Homeless Shelter Client Services
  1. Emergency shelter up to 30 days (some exceptions).
     
  2. Meals provided daily – special dietary meals available (diabetes, etc.)
     
  3. Clothing, personal hygiene items, sheets, towels, pillows, pillow cases, & blankets.
     
  4. Case management services in English & Spanish.
     
  5. One time rent and utility assistance.
     
  6. Transportation assistance (emergency travel funds & bus passes).
     
  7. Medical clinic on premises weekly – we offer assistance with prescription costs.
     
  8. Health Access Van pick-up and return to shelter.
     
  9. Employment assistance (e.g.,  linkage to job training, EDD & day labor).
     
  10. Referral assistance to other agencies.
     
  11. Access to phone, newspapers and postal deliveries.
     
  12. Child/family literacy program (Library Training Wheels Vehicle) also, tutoring program and homework program for school-age children.
     
  13. Women, Infants, and Children (WIC Program enrollment) once per month (new mothers information, access to car seats, formula, milk, fruits & vegetables).
     
  14. Mental Health Homeless Outreach Program (S.J. Co. Mental Health).
     
  15. Domestic violence support group (Women’s Center).
     
  16. Drug Screening and drug program access support
  17. 12 Step Program enrollment.
     
  18. PMACS – Project: Men Accessing Clinical Services (S.J. Co. Public Health).
     
  19. No child left behind program – all shelter children 5 – 17 enrolled in school.
     
  20. Hearing tests for children 3-5 years (United Cerebral Palsy).
     
  21. Court/client advocacy program that turns Court fines into volunteer hours.
     
  22. Ice cream truck comes weekly and all the children get to pick out a free ice cream.
     
  23. Church outreach ministries (four days per week).
     
  24. Chicken Soup for the Soul reading/discussion groups.
     
  25. Thrift store provides job training; also free clothing and special needs for homeless.
     
  26. Staff assists mothers of new-born babies & linking families with child care.
     
  27. Children’s dental examinations (regular shelter site visits).
     
  28. Girl Scouts – Thursdays at 3:00 p.m.
     
  29. Special events (e.g., the Ports games, local plays, Children’s museum passes, annual Christmas luncheon with Stockton Rotary, Santa visits, holiday celebrations, birthday celebrations, week-end barbeques, family day, and special educational visits from the Fire Department, Police Department, etc

  30. Veterans Stand Down - Annual comprehensive one day services for homeless veterans.
